Students from the Energy and Electrical Power and Environment & Sustainability fields at ElSewedy University of Technology participated in an educational field visit to the NREA El Zafarana Wind Farm on October 17, 2025. The visit was supervised by Dr. Mariam A. Sameh, Head of the Energy Program, and Eng. Reem Ahmed Mostafa.
The visit aimed to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world renewable energy applications, providing students with hands-on exposure to one of Egypt’s most significant wind energy projects. During the tour, students learned about the future prospects and challenges of wind energy in Egypt, explored the SCADA control system used for real-time operational monitoring, and examined the main turbine components to understand their start-up and shut-down mechanisms.
They also observed how electricity generated by the turbines is transmitted through the national grid and gained practical insights into fault management, system reliability, and power transmission processes.
This experience enriched students’ technical understanding while reinforcing ElSewedy University of Technology’s commitment to integrating experiential learning and industry engagement into its academic programs — empowering future engineers and sustainability professionals to contribute effectively to Egypt’s renewable energy transition.
