Elsewedy University’s top-performing students are representing the institution at the national “SolveThe17” hackathon, organized by the IEEE Student Branch at Egypt University of Informatics. Running from May 10 to 17, the competition challenges participants to develop technology-driven solutions addressing key societal issues in Egypt.
The event is held in a hybrid format, combining in-person engagement with virtual collaboration to encourage inclusive participation and teamwork. Throughout the week, participants take part in workshops and mentoring sessions led by industry experts and academic leaders.
Student teams are focusing on five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
- Good Health and Well-Being
- Quality Education
- Affordable and Clean Energy
- Sustainable Cities and Communities
- Climate Action
Each team is applying innovative thinking and technical skills to develop practical and scalable solutions, ranging from healthcare technologies to sustainable urban planning, reflecting both creativity and social responsibility.
The hackathon will conclude with a Demo Day on May 17, where teams will present their projects to a panel of expert judges. This final stage highlights the role of youth in driving innovation and contributing to future development.
Elsewedy University remains committed to supporting its students through such initiatives, reinforcing its focus on technological advancement, sustainability, and civic engagement.
