On Tuesday, November 19th, a group of students from the Faculty of Arts and Design Technology at ElSewedy University of Technology – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT – embarked on an enriching educational trip to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.
The visit aligned with the university’s commitment to a polytechnic model of learning, which emphasizes a 60% practical and 40% theoretical approach. By immersing students in real-world experiences, the university aims to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their chosen fields.
Under the supervision of Dr. Hanan Fouad, Dr. Mohamed Eid, and Teaching Assistant Habiba Abdel Salam, students explored the rich history of Egyptian art and culture. The museum’s extensive collection, spanning from prehistoric times to the modern era, provided an ideal platform to observe the evolution of artistic styles, architectural techniques, and cultural practices across civilizations including Ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Islamic, and Modern Egyptian.
By examining artifacts up close, students analyzed the materials, techniques, and symbolism used by ancient artisans. This hands-on experience complemented the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom, helping students connect abstract concepts with real examples.
The trip enriched students’ understanding of art history and design principles while also inspiring creativity and innovation. By witnessing the ingenuity of past civilizations, students were encouraged to push the boundaries of their own artistic work.
ElSewedy University of Technology remains committed to providing learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Through field trips, workshops, and internships, the university fosters a dynamic educational environment that prepares students for success in the modern workforce.
