ElSewedy University of Technology – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT – proudly announces that its official inauguration event, during which faculty members took their oath, took place on the 20th of May 2024 in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister. He delivered a speech during the celebration alongside distinguished attendees including Dr. Tarek Shawky, former Minister of Education; Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, Governor of Sharkia; Engineer Ahmed ElSewedy, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees; Sadek ElSewedy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ElSewedy Industries Group; Dr. Ayman Bahaa, President of ElSewedy University of Technology; Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Technical and Technological Education; as well as a number of presidents of universities and banks, and representatives of companies.
The Prime Minister began his speech by expressing his gratitude to be among CEOs and presidents on this special day, marking the official launch of ElSewedy University of Technology – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT -. He emphasized that human capital is a fundamental pillar of the industrial sector and plays a critical role in achieving success. He noted that the experiences of successful industrial nations confirm that industrial advancement begins with a strong focus on technological education. Accordingly, the state supports private sector efforts in developing practical education through technological universities.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly noted that the private industrial sector plays a key role in operating such institutions, helping to prepare the workforce required for specialized industries and enabling graduates to secure employment immediately after graduation. Given the nature of Egyptian society, which values continued education beyond the school level, the concept of technological universities emerged. He highlighted that Egypt has encouraged this model and expressed hope that SUT – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT – will serve as a successful example.
The Prime Minister stated that SUT – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT – will provide the industry with qualified youth, noting that in many successful countries, adopting the polytechnic model at the university level has led to major breakthroughs in the industrial sector.
ElSewedy University of Technology – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT – expressed its appreciation for the Prime Minister’s supportive remarks regarding the university and its educational facilities. He also acknowledged ElSewedy Group’s pioneering role in establishing technical schools and technological universities, as well as the contributions of Egyptian businessmen implementing similar models, affirming the state’s strong commitment to supporting such initiatives.
Eng. Ahmed ElSewedy, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, also delivered a speech during the celebration, expressing his gratitude for the Prime Minister’s presence at the inauguration. He emphasized ElSewedy Group’s strong commitment to technological education, considering it essential for strengthening the industrial sector with qualified professionals. He noted that achieving industrial excellence requires skilled workers and competent engineers, which can only be achieved through practical education and well-equipped laboratories, highlighting this as a key factor behind the success of leading industrial nations.
Eng. Ahmed ElSewedy further confirmed that ElSewedy University of Technology – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT – aims to provide high-quality educational opportunities for youth in modern technology fields, in collaboration with local and international higher education institutions. This approach seeks to bridge the gap between educational outcomes and labor market needs by preparing graduates who are capable of innovation and competitiveness both locally and globally, equipped with the necessary skills for future jobs.
The Prime Minister also listened to a presentation by Hanan Al-Rihani, CEO of ELSEWEDY EDTECH and a member of the university’s Board of Trustees, who explained that ElSewedy University of Technology – POLYTECHNIC OF EGYPT – consists of three main phases, with the inauguration marking the completion of the first phase.
